Checklist: Best Practices for Building Profile with Professional Associations

There is an Association for just about every subject matter related to your business. For example, The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) is a good one for connecting with professionals in the home reno and builder trades, the Association of Condominium Managers Ontario (ACMO) is a good place to connect with condo property managers if that’s part of your target market, The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) is a great way to connect with commercial real estate owners for their reno and maintenance needs and/or referrals to their tenants, and even regional Real Estate Associations if you target Realtors who work for buyers who buy distressed homes and renovate.

Each Association serves as a place where members allied to that subject matter gather together in the pursuit of professional development, networking and sometimes industry advocacy. Your business’s marketing plan should include an active membership in at least one of these Associations in which your ideal clients (and/or referral sources) are members.

This FREE download will help you to weigh in on your Professional Association involvement. Where there are gaps – take action! Simply being a member is not enough. And, “drive by” appearances now and then are not an effective way to build your profile. You must be present and engaged – regularly – to successfully leverage this Association as a ‘gathering place’ for relationship building and business development purposes.
